Growing up with my sisters made me quite industrious. From an early age, we ran several businesses together to have some pocket money for ourselves e.g. pastries, sugar candies, handbags, shoes, business centre, coaching classes, tailoring, food vendors, name it. From our earnings, we chose a special xmas gift to buy as a way of rewarding ourselves for all the hard work all year round. I’ll never forget my awkward looking turqouise-blue shoes. I wore them proudly every sunday whether it matched my dress or not. It was my money, my reward, and that was all that mattered.
Today’s Passage: “For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods. Unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his ability (v. 15). Lord, you gave me five talents, behold I gained five more…(v20) Lord, you gave me two talents, behold I gained two more…(v22) I was afraid, and went and hid my talent in the earth.” (Matt 25:14-25)
Everyone of us has a gift deposited in our bodily bank account and God expects us at a minimum to double it!
Doubling could mean investing in ourselves, others, society, church, ministry, the poor and fatherless, touching lives everywhere we go.Don’t hide your gift out of fear, lack of time, one lame excuse or the other. Jesus likened this act to wickedness-:)
As you set out today, stir up the gift of God on your inside, at a minimum, DOUBLE it. May He say “Well done”!!
