“What are you so puffed up about? What do you have that God hasn’t given you? And if all you have is from God, why act as though you are so great, and as though you have accomplished something on your own?” (1 Cor. 4:7 NLT)
The giggles and screams of fans filled the air. “Can we have your autograph?” was the popular phrase as he walked through the crowd unto the stage to collect his trophy. What a great year it had been, breaking one world record and achieving a new personal best. As he walked to the stage, his eyes wandered through the crowd and then he saw her- the lady who helped him start his career, who saved him from death years ago and taught him to believe. Tears filled his eyes as he found his way towards her. He lifted her up from her chair, held her hand, and took her with him towards the stage. Receiving the trophy, he dedicated it to her saying “There’s no me without you”.
What have you achieved, acquired, received, this year that you haven’t been given by God? Who helped you along your way in life this year? Take a moment to acknowledge the helpers that made this year colourful for you and also the Source of it all.
